Lesley Stahl began her journalism career as a producer and on-air reporter at Boston’s original Channel 5, WHDH-TV. In 1971, she joined CBS News, becoming a correspondent in 1974. She gained widespread recognition for her coverage of the Watergate scandal, a major political event that implicated the U.S. administration.

From 1983 to 1991, Stahl served as the moderator of Face the Nation. She also held the prestigious role of White House correspondent during the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and George W. Bush, covering key events such as U.S.-Russia summit meetings.
