From there, his career progressed as he worked under renowned chefs in California, including a stagiaire position at the prestigious French Laundry.

Duff later gained recognition as the executive pastry chef at the Vail Cascade Hotel in Colorado and worked at Todd English’s Olives restaurant. In 2000, he founded his own business, Charm City Cakes, which would go on to make him a household name.

Starting out by selling cakes from his home in Charles Village, Baltimore, with just two assistants, Duff’s business grew rapidly. As demand for his cakes increased, he expanded his team.
